I feel like I must apologize from the beginning. I really am excited and anxious about wanting to share the crazy adventures that seem to develop in the life of mine. Yet, I am not too good about actually sitting down in front of my laptop to type out a blog. I don’t know if it is entirely my laziness or simply a real bad case of procrastination. Probably a bit of both. I would love to say that I am too busy, but I know that it really doesn’t take “that” long. So again I apologize. So I am going to take advantage of this 2 hour flight to type and share. I have received several inquires as to what I am up to these days and where the heck Im at. So here it goes.
Last time we were together, I shared about being in Michigan as I was spending some time with my Mom. The time spent there was great but I was also spending a great deal of time asking the Lord to open doors around me. One of the developments there was the birthing of a new small business idea. Combining my past experiences in corporate retailing and my heart for the missionary field workers, I am in the process of developing a small business to equip the field workers and other non-profit organizations with goods, equipment, and services at a minimized cost. I will share more about this as it continues to unfold, but I ask you to join me in prayer as it develops. I am confident this is a God driven project as it will require a lot more of Him to help me pull it off. But I am very excited as I am seeing it come together. In such, one of the initial challenges was fiscal capital. Considering that I hadnt been working in the usual job place, funds have been slower to come in as needed. Once again, my prayer was Lord please step in here!
In answer to prayer and the wonderful assistance of my brother, I have been partnering with a group called Spectrum Design Group (SDG). Once again pulling on a past interest/hobby of mine in TV/media, I have been able to stretch my definition of church building experience. SDG is a company that designs/installs every aspect of media (TV, audio, lighting) in new facilities, specializing in churches. I have now been doing some contract work with them over the past two months installing an unthinkable amount of cables and professional tv equipment. This is the literal part of church building. May I advise, if you are intimidated by hooking up your DVD player and surround sound system, this type of work is not for you. Luckily, I enjoy it and it has been a great experience.
In my time with these great guys we have completed the installation at Summit Christian Center in San Antonio, Texas and are currently working at Grace Community Church in Knoblesville, Indiana. As you can tell by the pics it has been quite and interesting experience. Talk about getting ones hands in to modern first-world church building. I cant help but laugh thinking about having helped build small church plants in Peru and other parts of the world and how I currently find myself in the back of these equipment racks plugging in a couple hundred cables all in the name of Kingdom. I must admit I LOVE IT! Whatever, wherever - The Lord calls and I have committed to going. Wooohooo! I dont know exactly how long I will be doing this work but until then, no complaints here.
Again, this has been an answer to prayer because doing this work has enabled me to invest some much needed capital into the business development of Outreach Outfitters, while also providing some funds to feed the other side of my hearts desire to support and work with field missionaries. In partnership with my great friends at Adventures In Missions and Mike Hindes, I have been given a wonderful opportunity to go spend some time with the World Race team that left the US in Jan. At the end of July I will be traveling to India to spend some time with these friends I met back in Bolivia during my Spring visit. I am continuously encouraged by their stories and testimonies. You can read some of them at www.theworldrace.org. So please pray for us as we prepare for the visit.
So as I mentioned God has been so good to me. Living each day as it unfolds and seeing the Lord provide continues to wow me.
I thank you for your prayers and continued support. I will admit that as great as things may seems and sound, there are times when it gets tough. I’ll share more about that in my next update. But I can surely tell that many of you continue to pray for me. It is uplifting and so encouraging knowing you are there!
Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing and how I can be praying for you. - Blessings!
